Delete Your Account

Last Updated: August 4, 2026

You can permanently delete your Burnout Zero account and all of the personal data associated with it at any time. You do not need an active subscription, and you do not need to contact us first. This page explains how to do it, exactly what is removed, what we are legally required to keep, and how long it takes.

1. Delete from the mobile app

Open the Burnout Zero app, go to Settings, and choose Delete Account. You will be asked to confirm, because the action is permanent. Deletion happens immediately.

2. Delete from the web

Sign in at burnoutzero.com/settings and choose Delete Account. Deletion happens immediately.

3. If you cannot sign in

If you have uninstalled the app or lost access to your account, email privacy@burnoutzero.com from the email address associated with your account and ask us to delete it. We may need to verify your identity before proceeding. We complete these requests within 30 days of receiving them, and usually much sooner.

What is deleted

Deleting your account permanently erases the data we hold about you. This cannot be undone, and we cannot restore it afterwards. It includes:

  • Your account details — name, email address and password
  • Daily check-ins, including energy, mood, stress and sleep ratings, free-text reflections and emotion tags
  • Logged activities (boosters and drainers)
  • Burnout scores and history, calibration ratings and accuracy scores
  • AI-generated insights and weekly summaries
  • Health and fitness data synced from Apple Health or Health Connect — sleep, steps, exercise, heart rate variability and mindful minutes
  • Screen time data, where you enabled it
  • Connected calendar data, calendar analysis, focus blocks and scheduling proposals
  • Goals, achievements, streaks and experience points, preferences and notification settings
  • Your subscription record, consent history and any feedback you submitted
  • If you use Burnout Zero through an employer: your team membership and any help signals you raised

What is retained, and why

  • Records we are legally required to keep — for example invoices and payment records, which accounting and tax law requires us to retain for a statutory period. They are kept for that purpose only.
  • Aggregate, organization-level statistics that were already calculated. These describe groups, never individuals, and cannot be traced back to you.
  • Encrypted database backups may contain residual copies until those backups age out of their retention window and are overwritten. They are not accessible from the app and are not used for any purpose.

How long it takes

Deleting from the app or the web takes effect immediately — your account and data are erased as part of the request, not queued for later. Requests sent by email are completed within 30 days.

If your account is under a legal hold

If you use Burnout Zero through an employer, your organization may place a legal hold on an account when it is required to preserve records for a legal or regulatory matter. While a hold is active, deletion is blocked and you will see a message asking you to contact your administrator. Once the hold is released, you can delete your account normally.

Getting a copy of your data first

Deletion is permanent, so if you want a copy of your data, export it before deleting your account. You can request an export from your account settings, or by emailing privacy@burnoutzero.com. The export includes your health and fitness data.
